Steelcase Pyramid is History...

Any doubts about the severity of the depression in the office furniture industry were erased this week, with the announcement that Steelcase Inc. has decided to abandon the largest tribute to corporate ego in the history or our industry - their Pyramid:

Originally designed and built in 1989 for $111 Million, the Pyramid served as Steelcase's tribute to itself, and as the companies Corporate Development Center. Plans call for Steelcase to move "Pyramid employees" into their main Headquarters building in Grand Rapids MI. by 2012.
